To: IBM PC Users' Group
Dear PC club members:
This is a graphics program that is being distributed free to all IBM PC
users. The program handles 5 character fonts, viz. Roman simplex, Roman
duplex, Roman complex, Gothic English, and Script fonts. The symbol
library contains all kinds of Greek, zodiac, music, math and flowchart
symbols, icons, animal, equipment, and vehicle pictures.
Graphic objects on the screen can be moved by the number keypad, or the
joystick, or the lightpen. The program enables you to output graphs on the
graphics printer, or the HP7470A plotter, or HP7580 plotter, or IBM XY/750
plotter, or IBM XY/749 plotter, or IBM 7374 plotter.
The program also allows you to reverse the plotter so that it works as a
digitizing tablet.
The graph files produced by this program are of very small size so that you
can save hundreds of files on a diskette.
If you use DOS 1.1, you need an IBM PC with 128K memory. If you use DOS
2.0, you need 192K memory.
To set up this program for a double-sided diskette drive, format a blank
diskette with FORMAT B:/S, and then copy my entire diskette onto your newly
formatted diskette.
To set up this program for a single-sided diskette drive, format a blank
diskette with FORMAT B:/S/1, label it as PCPG, and copy PCPG.PIC and
PCPG.EXE onto it. Format another diskette with FORMAT B:/1, label it as
PCPGLIB, copy PCPG.SYM, PCPG.FT*, PCPG.HLP, and DEMO*.* onto it. You start
the program with the PCPG diskette, and the program will ask you to switch
to the PCPGLIB diskette.
This program works best in a dual screen environment, i.e., if you start
the program on a monochrome display, instructions will be displayed on the
monochrome screen while graphics will be displayed on the graphics screen.
If you start the program on the graphics display, the program will run in
single screen mode such that instructions and graphics flip flop on the
graphics screen and you need to press the F1 key to look at the
instructions.
To get a quick demo, start this PCPG program, select option 4, type in the
name DEMO, and a sequence of 10 demo graphs will be displayed.
Please distribute this diskette to your club members and if you and your
club members like this program and would like to help the author reduce his
development and mailing cost, you may send a contribution to the above
address.
Sincerely,
Eugene Ying
